Tom
Drescher has an academic background in English literature but over the
years has worked in a number of fields. He is now retired to the family
home in the Kootenay region of British Columbia.
Combined with the emotionally resonant juxtaposition of winter road and lone walker, Tom's use of metonymy ("shadow" for "person/walker") is poignant, effectively conveying a sense of melancholy.
